In pursuit of sharing the truth that diverse perspectives = more innovative & more fun, I taught a class called Global Perspectives to freshmen college students in a tiny town in Indiana. Most students have never been outside of the state. For some, I was the first Asian person they'd ever met in real life. I learned that I truly needed to accept that there are no stupid questions because some of these students had never even touched a passport. It was a lesson in empathy, but also an opportunity to invite students to access whole new worlds.

Speaking of butterflies, one of my many pervious jobs was with the Conservation Corps in Maryland where we tagged Monarch butterflies to help with researching butterfly pathways, survival rates, and weather effects.
